In November 2024, the 11th Summit of the Organization of Turkic States (OTS) was held in Bishkek (the Kyrgyz Republic), where the declaration “Unity for a Sustainable Future” was adopted and the “Green Vision of the Turkic World” initiative was presented. These documents set out the strategic directions of the OTS’s activities, strengthen ties between the Turkic states and the global community, and contribute to the achievement of specific Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs), including:

• SDG 6: Clean Water and Sanitation
• SDG 11: Sustainable Cities and Communities
• SDG 13: Climate Action
• SDG 15: Life on Land
• SDG 17: Partnerships for the Goals

Building on the summit’s decisions and aspiring to active participation in international cooperation, Al-Farabi Kazakh National University, together with Khoja Akhmet Yassawi International Kazakh-Turkish University, the Republican Commemorative School of Geography, the Institute of Geography and Water Security JSC, Eskişehir Osmangazi University and Zh. Balasagyn Kyrgyz National University, has announced the holding of the Turkish World II. International Geography Congress. The event will take place on April 24–25, 2025, in Almaty (Republic of Kazakhstan), at Al-Farabi Kazakh National University.
